Firefighting powder of halogenated compounds

Firefighting powders are usually compounds based on carbonate, sulfate or phosphate. and are divided into 3 groups:

A) Chemical powder

It has carbonate, sulfate and phosphate base and is used for group A, B, C fires.

b) Dry chemical powder

It is mainly used to extinguish flammable metal fires and contains compounds such as sodium chloride, potassium chloride and barium chloride.

c) More powder

In fact, it contains potassium acetate which is mixed in water and is only recommended for extinguishing kitchen fires.

Technical, physical and chemical characteristics of the powder

ABC is a mixture of ammonium salts and sulfuric and phosphoric acids with the necessary additives:

* The color of the powder at 20 degrees Celsius is light blue.

* Has international standards and the seal of Iran Standard Institute.

* It is used to extinguish fire groups A, B, C.

* Accumulated density: 0.25 kg/cubic decimeter.

Particle size:

* ۱۰ to 20% of 125 micron particles.

* ۳۰ to 46% of 63 micron particles.

* ۴۵ to 61% of 40 micron particles.

In total, 51% of the main ingredients and 40% of additives and the rest is equivalent to 9% of water weight.

Halogen compounds

The use of halogenated compounds in fires, when they are close to the fire, reduces the speed of chain reactions and significantly extinguishes the fire.

Mechanism of action of halogenated compounds:

۱- Sitting on fire due to high density.

۲- Eliminating oxygen radicals.

۳- Absorption of ions by bromine element and delay in oxidation.

Fire fighting powder (PO-600)

It is a type of powder based on sodium bicarbonate; And it is economical and simple for Fire extinguisher , which is suitable for class B C fires, which include flammable gases and liquids.
